Let me tell you a little love story — it starts with my parents. My dad, Ron, a well-traveled man from County Durham, was on a work trip to Gdynia when a chance conversation with a taxi driver led to him befriending a local man. As fate would have it, that man was the brother-in-law of my future mother, Ewa, a nurse in Gdynia. They met, fell in love, and I was born on October 5th, 1977, in Poland.
Four years later, my brave mom left her family and friends to start a new life with my dad and me in the UK. We often traveled back to Poland on industrial cargo ships — I still have a strange nostalgia for the smell of sauerkraut and engine oil from those journeys.
I painted everything, everyday
Creativity was always part of my life. I loved drawing and became obsessed with airbrushing photographs before digital editing existed. This passion led to a fascination with digital art, and as a teenager, I dreamed of becoming a video game artist — a dream I eventually fulfilled.
However, I soon realized that sitting in front of a screen forever wasn’t for me. I found my true calling when I studied design for industry ( product design ) at Northumbria University, where I learned model-making, photography, and graphic design. This led to a career in games design followed by lecturing in digital arts and photography.
